Tear Trough

Correction of dark circles with Dermal Fillers

Serious Model

Dermal Fillers of specific consistency can be injected into the tear trough to reduce the appearance of the tear trough and to lighten dark circles. The treatment takes 45 minutes and can last up to 2 years. Hyaluronic acid injections are used and a cannula is preferred to deliver the product reducing the likelihood of bruising and minimising downtime.

Our goal is for the eyes to look youthful and refreshed.

Under-eye rejuvenation treatments help reduce under-eye bags and plump up skin to give you a fresher appearance. Our in-clinic doctor -Dr Chiké Emeagi uses dermal fillers, which are strategically administered to the under-eye area, producing results that can make you look more youthful, less tired and give you more confidence in your appearance.

This treatment produces natural, subtle results.

We use this treatment to:

  • Reduce hollowing under the eye

  • Reduce under-eye bags

  • Reduce the appearance of the tear trough and to lighten dark circles

  • Iron out fine lines and wrinkles

You will have a thorough consultation with your doctor before undergoing any treatment.

We administer dermal filler into the under-eye area, creating a soft, natural appearance.

Your doctor will administer the filler along the hollow of your tear troughs. A cannula is used to deliver the hyaluronic filler, making it more comfortable. The filler also contains a local anaesthetic to numb the area during treatment – most patients only feel mild, temporary discomfort. The doctor will usually massage the area to make sure the gel filler is evenly distributed.

The treatment will only take around 30 minutes. Results are achieved instantly and your doctor will show you their progress, making sure you are happy and comfortable throughout.

Who will carry out the treatment to treat eye bags and dark circles?

It is important that the treatment is carried out by a medically qualified practitioner as this area is anatomically complex. The right dermal filler should be injected and the precise anatomical layer of the skin should be injected to reduce complications.

Does the procedure hurt?

We use Topical Numbing Cream to dull the sensation of needle entry into the skin. The Dermal Filler used will contain local anaesthetic.

How soon will I see results?

You will generally see a difference straight after the treatment. It can take a few days for the side effects to subside, after which you should start to see an even bigger improvement.

What are the side effects?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are FDA-approved. Common side effects include redness, swelling and bruising, but these tend to ease off after a few days. Rare side effects include infection, scarring, migration (where the filler moves to a different area), vascular occlusion, and blindness (extremely rare and nullified by microcannula use).

How long do tear trough fillers last?

They generally last around 6-18 months, but this really depends on the individual and how quickly they metabolise them. Variability is affected by factors like skin type and age. It is believed that people who exercise frequently tend to metabolise the dermal fillers faster.

Am I suitable for them?

This treatment is suitable for many people who have deep depressions in their under-eye area. It is important to book a consultation with a medically qualified practitioner before your appointment as the under-eye area is complex.

Are tear trough fillers the correct procedure for me?

Tear Trough Filler is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive, or for people who have an allergy to lidocaine. Treatment to this area should be avoided if you are susceptible to blood clotting or suffer with keloid scarring.

What should I avoid before and after the fillers?

In the 5 days leading up to your appointment - and the next few days following it - you should avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E as these can lead to bleeding and bruising. Check with your GP or practitioner if you are taking any prescription medication containing aspirin. Please tell your practitioner about any illnesses and Medications/ Supplements that you are taking.

How long does the procedure take?

Treatment time will tend to take between 30-40 minutes. After your appointment, you should avoid strenuous exercise for the next 24 hours, as well as saunas, sunbeds and direct sunlight. You’ll also need to wait around 2 weeks before getting facials.

What will your Tear Trough Filler Treatment consist of at Hampstead Aesthetics ?

Your treatment will start with an in-depth Medical Consultation with your Doctor. You will be able to discuss any concerns you may have about the procedure, and they will be able to suggest the most effective treatment strategy plan for your particular concerns. The risks and benefits of any treatment will be discussed at length. Our primary aim at NewYou is to ensure that you are happy with any treatment you undertake.
