A Botox brow lift is a non-surgical treatment that relaxes the muscles pulling the brow down, so the brow tail lifts gently and the eye looks more open. At the West Hampstead clinic it takes about 10 minutes, the lift appears over 3 to 14 days, and it typically lasts 3 to 4 months. It works best for mild heaviness caused by muscle pull. Where the issue is loose skin, a thread lift gives a stronger result. Your fee is confirmed at consultation, once your treatment plan is agreed.

Heavy or hooded brows can make you look tired or stern even when you feel fine. A Botox brow lift, sometimes called a chemical brow lift, is one of the simplest ways to open the eye area without surgery. It is a small treatment with a careful technique behind it, and it is one of the areas where placement matters most.

ABOUT BOTOX

What is a Botox brow lift?

A Botox brow lift uses small, precisely placed anti-wrinkle injections to relax the muscles that pull the brow downward. The brow is held in position by a balance between muscles that lift it and muscles that pull it down. By easing the downward pull, mainly at the outer brow, the lifting muscles win out a little and the brow tail rises. The effect is a more open, rested eye rather than a changed face.

It is different from a surgical brow lift, which physically removes or repositions tissue, and from a thread lift, which lifts the skin mechanically. The Botox version is subtle by design. It refreshes the upper face and is fully temporary, which makes it a good first step for anyone unsure about more involved options.

CONSIDERING YOUR OPTIONS

Is a Botox brow lift right for you?

This treatment suits some causes of brow heaviness and not others, which is why assessment comes first. It tends to work well for:

MILD HOODING

Where the brow sits a little heavy on the eyelid, a small lift can open up visible space above the eye.

LOW OR FLAT BROWS

A subtle arch can be created to restore balance to the upper face.

BROW ASYMMETRY

Where one brow sits lower than the other, the dose can be adjusted side to side to even them up

If the heaviness is mainly from loose skin or more advanced descent, Botox alone will not be enough, and a thread lift or another approach will give a better result. Dr Chiké will tell you honestly which group you fall into rather than treating regardless.

HOW IT WORKS

How the treatment works

Treatment starts with watching how your brow moves. Dr Chiké assesses the balance between your lifting and depressing muscles, because the right injection points differ from person to person. A few small injections are then placed with an ultra-fine needle, mainly around the outer brow and the muscles at the side of the eye.

The key is restraint. Over-treating the central forehead is what creates the surprised or frozen look, so the dose is kept small and aimed at lifting the tail of the brow rather than freezing the whole forehead. The appointment takes about 10 minutes, and most people describe the injections as a quick pinch. Numbing cream is available but rarely needed.

“A brow lift with Botox is all about balance. I am not freezing the forehead, I am releasing the muscles that drag the brow down so the natural lifters can do their job. A milligram in the wrong place drops a brow; in the right place it opens the eye.”

HONEST COMPARISON

How it compares to other brow treatments

The right treatment depends on what is causing the heaviness: muscle pull, loose skin, or lost volume in the temple and upper face.

Treatment Best For How long it lasts Notes
Botox Brow Lift
Mild heaviness from muscle pull
Around 3-4 months
Subtle, no downtime, fully temporary
Loose skin and stronger lift
Around 12 to 18 months
Physical lift, more involved, longer lasting
Hollow temples dropping the brow
12 to 18 months
Restores support; often paired with Botox

For many people the answer is the Botox lift, sometimes combined with a little temple filler to restore the support the brow sits on. Where there is real skin laxity, a thread lift is the stronger option, and Dr Chiké will say so.

RESULTS

Results and what to expect

The lift is not immediate. You will usually feel the muscles relaxing from day 3 to 5, and the full effect settles by around day 14, which is why a two-week review is included. The result is a slightly higher, more open brow and a brighter eye area, while your expression still moves naturally.

Results typically last 3 to 4 months, in line with anti-wrinkle treatment elsewhere on the face. Longevity depends on how strong your muscles are and your metabolism. Many people pair the brow lift with treatment of the frown and forehead at the same visit, which both improves the lift and tends to make it last a little longer.

It is worth being realistic. A Botox brow lift gives a subtle few millimetres, not a surgical change. If you want a pronounced lift, a thread lift or surgical referral is the more honest route, and you will be told that at your consultation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Recovery, downtime and aftercare

There is no real downtime. Most people return to normal activities straight away. Small raised bumps at the injection points settle within 20 to 30 minutes, and bruising is uncommon around the brow.

For the first 24 hours:

  • Stay upright for about four hours and do not lie flat.
  • Do not rub or massage the brow or forehead.
  • Avoid intense exercise, saunas and steam rooms.
  • Avoid alcohol, which can add to any bruising.

A mild headache on the first day is common and short-lived. You will leave with written aftercare and a complimentary two-week review, where the lift is checked and balanced if either side needs a small adjustment.

IS THIS FOR ME?

Am I a suitable candidate?

The brow lift suits most healthy adults with mild brow heaviness or asymmetry from muscle pull. A consultation is essential, because suitability depends on what is causing the heaviness and on the position of your eyelid as well as your brow.

Treatment is not carried out during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis, or if you take certain interacting antibiotics. If you have significant eyelid hooding from skin rather than brow position, Dr Chiké will explain why a different treatment is more appropriate.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Botox brow lift cost in London?

Your exact plan is agreed and quoted at your consultation, so you know the full cost before anything begins. Your fee is confirmed at consultation, once your treatment plan is agreed.

Most people describe it as a minor pinch. The injections are placed with an ultra-fine needle and the treatment takes only about 10 minutes, so it is over quickly. Numbing cream is available but rarely needed. There is no lingering soreness, and you can return to your day straight afterwards.

Results typically last 3 to 4 months, in line with anti-wrinkle treatment elsewhere on the face. How long it lasts for you depends on your muscle strength and metabolism. Treating the frown and forehead at the same time often improves the lift and helps it last a little longer.

No, not when it is dosed carefully. The surprised look comes from over-treating the central forehead. Dr Chiké uses small doses aimed at the outer brow to lift the tail while preserving natural movement, so the result is an open, rested eye rather than a fixed expression.

You will usually feel the muscles relaxing from day 3 to 5, with the full lift visible by around day 14. This is why a two-week review is built in; it lets Dr Chiké check the result and add a small adjustment if one brow needs a touch more once everything has settled

A dropped brow or eyelid is a rare risk and almost always comes from incorrect injection placement. This is why seeing a doctor with surgical anatomy training matters. Dr Chiké places the injections to lift the brow rather than weaken the muscles that hold the eyelid, which keeps the risk low. If it ever occurred, it would be temporary.

It depends on the cause. If your brow is heavy because of muscle pull, the Botox lift is the right tool. If the heaviness is from loose skin or more advanced descent, a fox eye thread lift gives a stronger, longer-lasting physical lift. Dr Chiké works out which applies to you at your assessment.

The lift is subtle, usually a few millimetres, enough to open the eye and refresh the upper face without changing how you look. It is not equivalent to a surgical brow lift. If you want a pronounced change, Dr Chiké will be honest that a thread lift or surgical option is the better route.

Often, yes, where the unevenness is driven by muscle. The dose can be adjusted side to side to lift the lower brow and bring the two closer to balance. Faces are naturally a little asymmetric, so the aim is improvement rather than a perfect match, and that is discussed at your consultation.

Yes, and many people do. Treating the frown and forehead at the same time gives a more harmonious result, and a little temple filler can restore the support the brow sits on where the temples have hollowed. Dr Chiké will suggest a combination only where it genuinely helps your result.

Avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatory medication for about 24 hours beforehand to reduce any chance of bruising, and arrive with clean skin where possible. If you take regular medication, mention it at your consultation. The treatment is quick, so no other preparation is needed.

Treatment is not carried out during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis, or if you take certain interacting antibiotics. Significant eyelid hooding from excess skin is also better treated another way. Your medical history is reviewed at consultation and Dr Chiké will advise honestly.

Nothing harmful. As the effect wears off over 3 to 4 months, the muscles return to their previous balance and the brow settles back to where it started. You will not be left worse off; the lift simply fades gradually rather than dropping suddenly.

Yes. The approach for men keeps the brow flatter and avoids a feminising arch, with the dose adjusted for stronger muscles. The aim is to open a heavy upper eye and look less tired while keeping a masculine brow shape, which comes down to placement and restraint.

Allow at least two weeks before an important occasion. The lift develops over the first fortnight, so treating two weeks ahead means you see the final result on the day rather than a partial effect. It also leaves time for the two-week review if any fine-tuning is wanted.

Arrange your consultation

If heavy or hooded brows are making you look tired, a consultation is the place to start. Dr Chiké will assess how your brow moves, explain honestly whether a Botox lift will give you the result you want or whether a thread lift would suit you better, and agree a plan with no pressure. If you have been looking for a brow lift or hooded eyes treatment near me, the West Hampstead clinic is easy to reach from across North London. You can arrange a consultation online or call the clinic on 0203 196 7222.
